Partner yoga is for everyone - we define "partner" as someone you are close to: friend, roommate, spouse, life partner, sibling, parent, child, etc. Practice this unique form of yoga where you and your partner work together to accomplish all the poses. Partner yoga fully integrates both partners into every pose, sometimes doing the same pose together, and sometimes practicing complimentary poses that intertwine.

Partner yoga teaches us interdependency and trust, along with laughter and joy. Along with poses, we explore some breathing techniques and discussion on the application of yoga principles to all of your relationships. This is fun, challenging, and deeply rewarding.

Benefits:

* Learn breathing techniques to facilitate calm and peace
* Learn partner poses that develop trust and mutual support
* Develop non-verbal communication skills
* If you are new to yoga, establish a foundation in the poses with a trusted companion
* If you currently practice yoga, challenge your existing yoga practice by exploring familiar poses in a whole new way

Tuition includes a copy of Yoga with a Friend: Develop trust, communication, strength, and compassion when you practice yoga with a partner--1 copy per individual registration or per partner team registration.

You can come solo or with a partner.

Almost like a ballerina type thing with fire. For example, I could step up onto their thigh and we could lock elbows while I'm spun in a half circle. OR something..... So, that may make no sense, but if you find yourself curious and interested in combining your martial art skills with fire and dance, please contact me.
to get a map on yahoo, type in the address..... 300 W Broadway Missoula Montana to 308 N first Missoula Montana. This map will show you directions from the intersection of Broadway and Orange, which I figure you all should know where Broadway and Orange are......it should give you a map. A little hint. instead of going around the block, after you go through the orange street underpass (Going north) take the first right, then go 1 block, take the first right go one block and take a right. You will see cars parked on one side of the street and on the other side a gold and maroon apartment building and right next to the gold and maroon apartment building is an old store front building.... that is the building.....It is on top of the orange street underpass, or ontop of the road that goes over the underpass (OK I think I just confused myself!!)

If you are coming from out of town, and are on Interstate 90, take the Orange street exit. Just as you pass the Ole's on your right, (it is only about 1 block from the Orange street exit ) you take the next left, (not the very first left, go past the Providence Center Parking lot and turn) then go one block, take a right go one block and take a right!!!!

Greetings and Happy New Year!

I hope this email finds you all happy and healthy going in the New Year!!!

Dance for life...
Dance for health...
Dance for fun...
Dance for workout...
Dance to meet friends...
Dance for your soul!!

The Downtown Dance Collective is a reality!!!

I have leased the beautifully renovated La Flesch building on 121 West Main
Street and in the process obtaining permits from the city to get started on
renovation. There are two studios, the smaller of which is perfect for
private and small group lessons, massage, workshops and consultations. The
large studio, 1835 square ft, there will be hardwood floors, almost 45 feet
of mirrors, barres on the opposite brick wall and a high end sound system.
There will be beautiful chandeliers, focused lighting for art work and
curtains to cover mirrors when needed. The large studio will also serve as
a gallery where local and national art work will be displayed and sold. Our
reception area will have a comfortable seating section as well as a unique
retail area. The DDC will sell the usual, t-shirts, sweaters and such, but
also, items from local artisans. All retail items will also be available
through the DDC website. We will have a library of books on all things
dance as well as a flat panel TV to view DVD's , great for presentations and
study.

The DDC will have many kinds of movement and dance classes, primarily for
ages 16 and older although there will be a few children's classes on the
schedule. Look to the website toward the end of January for a full schedule
and description of classes.

classes in various levels. DDC will offer classes for those that are
serious about dance, who perhaps have professional aspirations as well as
classes solely for the fun of moving and getting to know new people. We
have also established a wellness program that highlights classes in the
morning, afternoon and evening for those seeking a new place to workout.
Cardio salsa to high energy hip hop, these classes will not even compare to
30 minutes on a treadmill!! We will also have improv jam sessions for those
that are interested as well as "open" studio times that people may come and
practice. Members of the DDC will also have the ability to take advantage
of nutrition and wellness classes from local professionals.

The DDC is also be available for rental. Your next fundraiser, benefit,
birthday party, gallery opening, music performance, or small scale theater
production could be at the DDC. The DDC is conveniently located directly
across from the parking garage on Main Street and very near to all
restaurants and bars. The DDC has a relationship with the great guys over
at the Badlander and will have the ability to offer alcoholic beverages at
some events if desired. Events may be catered as well.

Want to donate to the DDC? We are looking for dance books, DVD's, artwork
to sell, music, large plants, unique desks, 2 are needed, floor and table
lamps.

We are also doing a lot of the construction on our own. If either you or
someone you know likes construction projects, please let me know!! Framing,
dry wall, painting and hardwood floor installation would all be helpful.

Hi...I posted here about my fall move to Missoula before, but I have more questions!

I've been trying to find a place to live via the internet (for October, at the latest November), and having a bit of a frustrating time...how easy/hard has it been to find a place to live in Missoula? I have a small dog (9 lbs.) and a cat, and that complicates things a little. I've looked at Rent.com and some other apartment sites and found 1 or 2 things, but they both have told me they have waiting lists, etc. I've looked online at the Missoulan a few times too, but they seem to want folks for immediate occupancy...totally understandable. I kinda need to find something before I land in Missoula, so I'm a little frustrated at the moment...

By the way, my posting this is not a way to try to "bum" a place to stay from any of you, just need some helpful suggestions, if you have them. Thank you in advance!

PS..also when does the snow typically start flying in Missoula? Don't want to move in a raging snowstorm! ;-)

Dear Missoulians,
Have any of you heard of the phoenix festival? Here is the description from the web site http://www.phoenixfest.com

What is the Phoenix Festival?(happening July 22-24)
The Phoenix Festival is three days of art, music, and mayhem created by the meeting of our minds with yours. Your creativity, energy, magic, and madness make the Festival what it is. Come play! Come create!
Do you have a crazy idea for something to add? Art? Music? Performance? Bring it on! The Phoenix Festival is your stage, your canvas, your testing grounds! We'll provide the basic amenities, but it's up to you to make the madness happen.
I will be driving out the evening of Thursday the 21st (possibly early friday the 22) and coming back on late sunday. The festival is located south of Yakima,WA. (about a 5 hour drive). I would love to find others who would like to share gas costs/driving. I have a beat up Subaru that is in o.k. driving condition-not the best, but she should make it just fine. If anyone interested in going has a newer and spunkier vehicle I would be very happy to pay half the gas and bring food for the trip out.
I think this is going to be a happening event. Let me know if you are interested, I may be able to get a line on a cheaper ticket. I'm not sure what the price is right now, but it is cheaper than burning man (and closer).

I was recently in Portland, and had the wonderful experience of seeing and hearing March Forth! marching band do their thing. It is quite a spectacle, involving stilt walkers, fire jugglers, dancers, a ten piece percussion section, and a ten piece horn section. And costumes. Very creative costumes. This was at an event that included some other live music and DJ's, but when March Forth processed in to the venue, the whole place erupted in ferenzied celebration.
I have been playing music for quite a long time, but I never had an interest in school band. Mostly because it was linked to sports, and I did not have any inclination to play football. Seeing this giant ensemble completely separate from the traditional roll of sideline entertainment was great fun.
I would like to form a community marching band for random acts of parading and celebrating. Wouldn't it be fun to just pick a night to go and march down Higgins, blasting a joyfull noise too loud to be ignored? The marching band will not be limited to traditional band instruments, though I am interested in staying with that theme ( I do not envision a West African/Samba/Cuban rhythm parade, there are other opportunities already for that in Missoula). The music will not necessarily be traditional band music. There will be no Louie Louie, but it will certainly be funky. Other performers will also be necessary: jugglers, dancers, baton twirlers (or devil stick twirlers), unicyclists, stiltwalkers, costume designers, acrobats, etc..
So if you play a band instrument (horn, sax, clarinet, tuba, band percussion instrument), or played in high school and have access to an instrument now, let me know if you are interested in participating. I would like for people who want to participate in the musical aspect of things to have some musical background (some music reading skills, framiliarity with your instrument, basic understanding of ensemble playing).

If I haven't already ruined any possibility of credibility with my inflamatory remarks recently, then I would like to make known a musical event at the Symes hotel in Hot Springs this Saturday night.
I will be playing accompanying Missoula singer/songwriter Maren Christensen and violinist Caitlin Hill starting at 8pm. We will be playing original acoustic music from Maren's recently released CD "Resilient Child". Her music is very honest and easy to relate to, with folk roots and a modern songwriting sensibility. Caitlin brings a wonderful layer of improvisation that is steeped in traditional Irish and Appalachian fiddle music. This is a free event, and donations will be accepted.

I'd live to stay in an art related job...if not I'm a damn good waitress.

SHE might know of some stuff, but it would be more fun to surprise her with some plans. Cheap concerts? Good comedians? A cheese and crackers extravaganza??? Give me some good ideas if you've got 'em, please. Thanks.

Hi Holly.

I have been looking at moving to Montana for some time (years) and still have my eye on 130 acres near Billing (the land is perfect, the price really good), but right now I have no real target area, since my midwifery and horse breeding really don't depend on the local job market.

I moved from Texas to Washington in 1980, and am getting really tired of the bureaucracy and rapid urbanization happening all over this once-beautiful state. I'm ready for some peace and quiet.

Do you have any insights on moving? What has your experience been - problems, adjustments, benefits, etc.? What is the Missoula area like?

Thanks!!
